Doesn't look like an alarm but it sure sounds like one. Pull up on the flower which is attached to the chain to active. Simply push it back down to turn off. Only has to move about a quarter inch up or down; you don't take the pin all the way out. Hold your hand over the large hole on the back of the head to muffle the sound when testing.

Great product. Very loud. A little bit bigger than I expected but not so big so as to be unusable. My 12 year old daughter thinks it's cute, and I feel a lot better knowing she has this while riding the city bus to and from school.
